As technology changes daily, continuing education has always been important to us.  Last year, we had several accomplishments throughout the office:

Walt Hutsky

Dr. Kevin Slonka

Currently, we have three individuals working toward their Cisco CyberOps Certification. Nate Sloan is working toward his Certified Information Security Manger Certification. And finally, Chris Scoran is working on his Masters in Cyber Security and Information Assurance.

For myself, continuing education has been a combination of technical, leadership, and management goals.  As the President of Precision Business Solutions, and the Flotilla Commander of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 054-25-11, my responsibilities are now focused on leadership and management within these organizations. Instead of focusing my efforts on making a network of computers work effectively together (a team of computers), my focus is on making teams, our people, work effectively together.  I’m very fortunate, as I’m surrounded by great people, who make for excellent teams, in both organizations.

Almost two years ago, I was at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, enrolled in their Leadership Strategies for Information Technology in Health Care program. I had such an amazing experience, learning from both pioneers in the field, but also my classmates, that I’ve been anxious to attend another program.  Last fall I applied to Harvard Business School, to attend their Executive Education program, Leading Professional Services Firms.  Next week I’ll be out of the office, as I was accepted and will be in Boston attending this program, something I’ve been looking forward to since receiving my acceptance email.

While I don’t want to rush the experience, I also can’t wait to take what I’ve learned and improve the services we provide to our clients. If you need me next week, I’m sorry, but I’ll be unavailable. Which is OK, as I have a great team surrounding me that I can rely on, to take care of any incident which may arise.
